I hold both a Bachelor and Masters Degree in Special Education, emphasis in students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing from Eastern Kentucky University. This is my fourteenth year at Kentucky School for the Deaf. After teaching science and reading in the middle school for thirteen years, I am KSD's Teacher on Special Assignment. In addition to teaching our new pathway, I assist the Director of Special Education. My new duties send me to different buildings across campus everyday, so I am not often by the phone in my classroom. I return emails quickly.
The Teaching and Learning Pathway is a state approved career pathway for students who are intersted in entering the education profession. A few districts began providing this pathway in the 2016-2017 school year. KSD began this pathway in August 2017. One unique feature of our Teaching and Learning Pathway is the emphasis on deaf education. We address issues of being a deaf learner and being a teacher of the deaf. Leading our Teaching and Learning Pathway has been extremely rewarding. How many people have the pleasure of teaching about their passion?
